About the Role
The Senior Dental Assistant provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to dental practitioners while contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of Kambu Health’s dental services. The role provides chairside assistance, supports sterilisation and infection control, manages clinical equipment and supplies, and assists with patient care.
The Senior Dental Assistant also provides guidance and support to other dental assistants, promotes high clinical and professional standards, and contributes to a welcoming, respectful, and culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families. Working collaboratively with the dental and broader healthcare teams, the role supports accessible, safe, and high-quality oral health services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior-level chairside assistance during examinations, treatments, procedures, and emergency dental care
Support and guide Dental Assistants, promoting consistent clinical standards and effective teamwork
Coordinate daily clinical preparation, including surgeries, instruments, materials, equipment, and supplies
Oversee sterilisation, infection prevention and control processes and maintain clinical safety standards
Support patient care by providing compassionate, respectful, and culturally safe assistance
Monitor dental equipment, stock, and infection control supplies, reporting maintenance or safety concerns
Work collaboratively with clinicians and teams to support efficient, high-quality dental services
What You'll Bring
Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)
Current C Class Drivers License (QLD) (Mandatory)
Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)
Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent qualification, with relevant dental assisting experience.
Strong knowledge of dental procedures, sterilisation, infection control, equipment, and clinical safety.
Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-focused approach.
Commitment to providing culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
