Medical Receptionist – Permanent Part-Time

Bedford Family Practice is a long-established, accredited, privately owned general practice located in Bedford. For over 20 years, we have proudly served our local community by providing accessible, high-quality healthcare in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We are a busy GP clinic seeking a mature, reliable, experienced and a long-term committed Medical Receptionist to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (two days per week), with additional hours available to cover sick leave and annual leave as required. Vietnamese-speaking ability is preferred to support communication with our diverse patient community.

About the Role

In this role, you will provide reception and administrative support to two to three GPs, helping ensure the smooth, efficient, and professional operation of the clinic.

You will be a key point of contact for our patients and play an important role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining accurate administrative processes, and supporting our doctors and clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Greeting and assisting patients in a professional and friendly manner

• Managing a range of patient phone enquiries

• Booking appointments and accurately entering patient information

• Generating invoices and processing payments

• Processing Medicare claims

• Maintaining doctors’ appointment schedules

• Responding to and actioning doctors’ requests promptly

• Performing general administrative duties as required

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist (essential)

• Ability to speak Vietnamese is preferred

• Sound understanding of Medicare item numbers

• Experience with Best Practice and Tyro (advantageous but not essential)

• Reliable, punctual, and committed with a strong work ethic

• Ability to multitask and work independently in a busy environment

• Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner

• High level of professionalism and understanding of patient confidentiality
