BDN Lawyers is an extremely busy law firm with offices in Queanbeyan and Canberra. This is a part-time position, approximately 30-35 hours per week working across both offices predominately based in the Queanbeyan office.
This position will be available from November 2026
Key Responsibilities:
· Process office and trust account receipting, deposits, supplier invoices, payments and trust transfers.
· Reconcile Statutory Trust Accounts using legal practice management software
· Reconcile office bank accounts and credit cards using accounting software
· Manage payroll and superannuation
· Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS)
· Preparation of monthly and annual reports, statements and financial summaries
· Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems.
· Maintaining accurate records to support audit and ensure compliance with relevant Trust Accounting legislation within NSW and ACT.
Skills and Experience:
· Minimum 5 years’ professional bookkeeping experience, with experience working in a law firm or professional services environment highly desirable
· Experience with Xero is required with experience in one or more Australian legal practice management systems, including ActionStep is highly desirable
· Strong understanding of Trust Accounting legislation and compliance
· Experience troubleshooting software integration issues between legal practice management software and accounting systems
· Solid experience processing payroll and superannuation, including compliance with relevant obligations
· A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Strong organisational and time-management skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
