Press Brake Operator

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC press brake machinery to produce accurately folded Aluminium, Mild steel, Stainless steel components.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong sheet metal fabrication knowledge, good attention to detail and the ability to read engineering drawings and produce quality parts efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC press brake machinery

• Bend and form Aluminium, Mild steel and Stainless steel components

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and bend details

• Select appropriate punches, dies and tooling for different materials and thicknesses

• Set and adjust bend angles, backgauge positions, bend sequences and machine parameters

• Check finished parts for dimensions, angles and overall quality

• Make adjustments to achieve accurate and consistent bends

• Understand bend allowance, bend deduction, material thickness and inside bend radius

• Handle and support large and long sheet metal components during folding

• Identify and resolve bending and tooling issues

• Perform basic machine and tooling maintenance

• Work closely with laser cutting, welding and fabrication teams

• Maintain a clean and organised work area

• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience operating CNC press brakes is essential

• Strong understanding of sheet metal bending and fabrication

• Experience working with aluminium and mild steel

• Ability to independently set up press brake tooling and programs

• Ability to read and understand engineering/manufacturing drawings

• Good understanding of punches, V-dies, material thickness and bend angles

• Ability to use measuring equipment such as vernier calipers, tape measures, squares and angle gauges

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

• Good problem-solving skills

• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team

• Forklift licence is advantageous but not essential

Experience with Delem CNC press brake controls, particularly DA-69S or similar controllers, will be highly regarded.
