Manager HSEQ

A well-established Sydney head-contractor is expanding its safety team and is recruiting an HSEQ Manager. This is a hands-on operational role - safety leadership at the project coalface, not a group policy role from an ivory tower.

That means you will own the safety agenda for multi-million portfolio across commercial construction in NSW. You'll sit on the management team and work closely with the support of a group-level HSE function.

The Role

• Business unit level safety leadership.

• Sit on the management team and partner Construction and Project leaders directly.

• Roll out and enforce practical HSEQ systems, procedures and behaviours at project level.

• Coach and develop project-based Advisors and site safety personnel.

• Lead investigations, audits, contractor engagement and regulator interactions.

• Report into and be supported by a Group C-Suite - this role is about operational execution, not strategy design.

About You

• Proven HSE Manager or Senior HSE Advisor in Australian commercial construction - Tier 1 project level or Tier 2 head-contract equivalent.

• Boots-on-ground operator: comfortable on site, in tool box talks, in contractor start-ups, and in the site sheds.

• Deep knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and Code of Practice application.

• Cert IV / Diploma WHS minimum; Return to Work and ICAM qualifications preferred.

• Genuine belief that culture beats compliance - you can influence subcontractors, not just police them.

• Sydney-based; comfortable moving between projects across metro NSW.
