The Roles

We are looking for Underground Geologists to support our Tier 1 client at a gold operation in the Kalgoorlie region of WA. Several positions are open across mine geology and project geology, at both experienced and senior level, on an 8/6 roster with FIFO from Perth and a package of $240k to $260k inclusive of super.

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the mine geology positions put you underground with the production cycle. You map development headings and stope exposures, mark up and collect face and grade control samples, and design, manage and interpret underground diamond drill programmes. You work shoulder to shoulder with the mining crews and technical services to keep ore definition ahead of the mine plan and to call grade and geology with confidence.

The project geology positions sit closer to the resource. You log core, validate and reconcile drill information, build and update wireframes, and maintain the geological database to a standard the resource model can be built on. You support drilling campaigns from planning through to interpretation and you have a direct hand in how the orebody is understood.

Senior positions carry the same technical scope with accountability for the quality of what the team produces. You set standards, mentor less experienced geologists, and take the lead on reporting and technical decisions across your area. All flights, travel time and accommodation are covered.

To be considered you must meet the following criteria

A tertiary qualification in Geology or a related field.

Previous practical experience in underground mining in Australia and an established understanding of mining operations and processes/software.

Located near an airport and able to travel to Perth for flights to site.

Practical experience mapping development headings and collecting face and grade control samples underground.

Experience designing, managing and interpreting underground diamond drilling programmes.

Experience with core logging, drill data validation and wireframing in geological modelling and database software (Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine, Datamine or similar).

A sound understanding of sample QAQC and geological data management.

Proven ability to work alongside mining and technical services teams to keep ore definition ahead of the mine plan.

For senior applicants, a track record of leading and mentoring geologists on site.

Current Australian drivers licence and full working rights in Australia.
