Research Fellow – Best practice grazing after fire

About the Position
As a Research Fellow – Best Practice Grazing After Fire, you will contribute to research identifying best practice grazing management strategies after fire across the rangelands of the Northern Territory and Western Australia. You will review and synthesise scientific literature, industry data and expert knowledge to identify best practices, knowledge gaps and future research priorities. Working collaboratively with researchers, industry partners and rangeland stakeholders, you will help translate research findings into practical guidance through webinars, factsheets, industry resources and scientific publications. 

At Level B, you will take greater responsibility for leading research activities and outputs, independently managing components of the project and contributing to project delivery.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

•  A relevant postgraduate qualification in agricultural science, animal science, rangeland science, environmental science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant qualifications and research experience.
• Demonstrated ability to produce research outputs (e.g. reports, publications)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience generating and delivering effective presentations and reports to research colleagues, industry, government wider community
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with researchers, industry partners and other stakeholders and contribute effectively to meetings and consultation activities.
• Well-developed organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to deliver research activities and outputs within agreed timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy, exercise sound judgement and take responsibility for achieving research outcomes and project milestones.
• Commitment to the University’s values.

Additional Requirements at Level B

• Demonstrated track record of research outputs (e.g. publications, reports)
• Evidence of conducting independent research and contributing to project design
• At least 12 months of relevant postdoctoral or equivalent research experience
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex research findings into accessible and practical information for industry and other non-academic audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, support or informal mentoring to junior researchers, staff or students, where appropriate.

Remuneration 
Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level A/B. The base salary will be in the range of $76,604 - $137,659 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $89,626 - $161,061 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
