About the role
THE ROLE
The National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (The Scheme) arose from recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The Scheme provides redress to people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse in the form of a monetary payment, access to counselling and psychological support, and a direct personal response to survivors from the participating institutions. The Victorian government has provided its commitment to supporting survivors, commencing on 1 July 2018 and The Scheme is expected to accept applications until 30 June 2027. The Redress Operations team in the Department specifically focusses on responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from The Scheme.
This role is specifically about responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from The Scheme. You will be required to conduct file searches of historic information to determine what information exists in relation to an application for Redress. This requires attention to detail, the ability to synthesise often large amounts of information and to answer a series of questions related to information required for each search. This role sits within a team of nine staff members who are all responsible for the review of files related to applications for redress. This is established through file and documents searches.
Please note: this position requires processing material that is sensitive and can be emotionally challenging. This role will best suit a candidate who is both resilient and empathic and has previous experience dealing with similar material.
