About the role
The Sport Participation Officer plays a key role in growing participation in aquatic sport by coordinating and delivering grassroots programs, participation initiatives and community engagement activities. The position is responsible for fostering sustainable participation pathways that encourage lifelong involvement in swimming and pool lifesaving, while strengthening collaboration between Swimming WA (SWA), Royal Life Saving WA (RLSWA), clubs, schools and community partners to increase participation opportunities across WA.
Key responsibilities
Promote the aims and objectives of SWA and RLSWA within the swimming and general community.
Coordinate and deliver activations and events for schools in WA across aquatic activities.
Coordinate and deliver sport development clinics/events throughout WA to increase participation in both pool lifesaving and competitive swimming.
Coordination of events and development opportunities to grow the connection, engagement and knowledge of swimming participants.
Build on relationships across RLSWA and SWA that assist in the opportunities to grow sport participation within clubs.
Work closely with the RLSWA Sport Development Officer to support and grow the number of Pool Lifesaving Clubs in WA.
Participate in networking opportunities representing SWA at forums as required.
Liaise with government, clubs, members, swim schools and other stakeholders on matters regarding participation opportunities.
Assist in the administration and acquittal of relevant grants and partnership funding gained to assist with the SWA development programs annually.

Preparedness to be flexible concerning work hours and intrastate travel
Ability to work independently with excellent initiative and passion
A current WA driver's license
Working with Children Check
National Police Clearance
A tertiary degree in a relevant field or progression towards the degree (desirable)
Hands-on experience in swimming and sports administration (desirable)
A strong passion and interest in Aquatic Sports (desirable)
About us
Swimming Western Australia (SWA) is the peak body for competitive swimming in Western Australia, with its head office based in Mt Claremont. Its key stakeholders are Western Australian (WA) swimming associations and Clubs, Swimming Australia, coaches, officials, the Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (SCTA), other State Swimming Associations and, importantly, funding partners including government and private sector sponsors. SWA currently has over 80 clubs and over 10,500 club members. Its members include swimmers, officials, administrators, volunteers and parents of athletes. SWA is responsible for the management and development of the sport from State Championships and performance pathways to grassroots community level participation.
