About the role
The Immigration Advice and Rights Centre (IARC) is a not-for-profit community legal centre (CLC) with almost 40 years’ experience supporting vulnerable migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. IARC provides free immigration and citizenship law advice to migrants and refugees experiencing socio-economic disadvantage and delivers education and training to legal and welfare workers, their clients and the broader community on current immigration laws, regulations and policies.
Over the past eight years, IARC has worked closely with trade union partners to provide free immigration law support to migrant workers and advocate for positive changes to the migration system. Successful advocacy has led to a number of important reforms for temporary visa holders, and these reforms have not only empowered temporary visa holders to speak out but have also further embedded the interrelationship between immigration and employment law.
IARC is seeking an experienced Principal Solicitor (Employment Law) to establish and lead an employment law practice focused on supporting temporary visa holders to enforce their workplace rights where their visa status may be at risk.
This is a senior leadership role combining high-quality legal advice with strategic casework, advocacy, community legal education, law reform and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will lead the delivery and development of employment and industrial law services, working closely with IARC’s existing legal practice and trade union partners.
A full Position Description that includes Key Selection Criteria is attached below.
