Senior Manager Risk - Temporary Opportunity Up to 18 months

In this role, you'll:

 

Working within the Sydney Metro project team, you will lead the risk management function across major infrastructure delivery packages and provide strategic risk leadership to Project Directors, delivery teams and senior executives.

 

This is a fixed term full time position until 30 March 2028 .The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent challenge and oversight of project risks, leading quantitative risk assessments, managing contingency positions and ensuring risk information is integrated into project controls, forecasting and governance processes.

 

You will work closely with project controls, planning, commercial and delivery teams to ensure risk insights support informed decision making and successful project outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

• Leading project and program risk management activities across major delivery packages.
• Providing strategic risk leadership and advice to Project Directors and senior executives.
• Facilitating risk identification, assessment and mitigation workshops with project and contractor teams.
• Leading Quantitative Cost Risk Assessments (QCRA) and Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA).
• Reviewing and challenging risk assumptions, contingency.
• Developing and maintaining project risk registers, reporting and governance frameworks.
• Integrating risk management with cost, schedule and project controls functions.
• Supporting interface and integration risk management across complex delivery environments.
• Leading and mentoring risk professionals and contributing to capability development across the project.

 

 

 

About you

 

You are an experienced project delivery risk leader with a proven track record working on large and complex infrastructure projects.

 

You are recognised as a trusted advisor who can challenge assumptions, influence stakeholders and provide practical, evidence based advice to support successful project delivery outcomes.

 

You have extensive experience applying quantitative risk methodologies and understand how project risk, schedule risk, cost risk and contingency interact within major project environments.

 

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate experience in:

 

• Leading project risk management functions on major infrastructure programs.
• Rail, metro, transport, utilities, energy or other complex infrastructure projects.
• Leading and facilitating Quantitative Cost Risk Assessments (QCRA).
• Leading and facilitating Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA).
• Contingency management, confidence based forecasting and risk informed decision making.
• Developing, reviewing or challenging quantitative risk models.
• Monte Carlo simulation and quantitative risk analysis methodologies.
• Working directly with Project Directors, Cost Managers, Commercial Managers and Planning teams.
• Integrating risk management with project controls, cost management and scheduling functions.
• Managing contractor, interface and delivery risks across complex stakeholder environments.
• Preparing and presenting risk insights to executive and governance forums.
• Leading high performing teams and mentoring risk practitioners.
