Senior Accountant

About the role

We are a boutique Sydney tax and advisory firm based in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, close to Bondi Junction train station. We work closely with professionals, SME entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals and their families offering hands-on, partner-led service. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to take on a varied portfolio of business services and taxation clients, working directly with the Partner. You will get genuine client exposure and a real say in how matters are handled.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, income tax returns and BAS for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.

• Managing a portfolio of SME, professional and high-net-worth clients with direct client contact.

• Assisting with GST and CGT matters, contributing to broader advisory work (structuring, restructuring, succession and business formation/wind-up).

• Supporting due diligence, financial analysis and consulting engagements as they arise.

• Liaising with the ATO and other regulators on client matters.

• Mentoring and reviewing the work of junior staff.

• Contributing to the firm's client-facing culture by genuinely understanding client needs, not just processing compliance.

About you

• CA/CPA qualified (or close to completion).

• 4+ years' experience in Australian public practice, ideally within a small-to-mid-sized firm.

• Strong technical grounding in tax and accounting for SMEs, trusts and individuals.

• Comfortable managing your own portfolio with a good degree of autonomy.

• A clear, confident communicator who is happy on the phone and in front of clients.

• Experience with Xero Practice Manager, BGL Super, and Microsoft 365 will be highly regarded.
