About the role
With over 100 years of history, our club is the gem of Manly Cove, offering spectacular water views across Sydney Harbour. We provide our members with premier sailing activities and the resources to maintain one of the most competitive sailing fleets in Australia.
The Club features two bars, a relaxed bistro with a seafood focus, a multipurpose function room, and an incredible sun‑kissed deck with indoor‑outdoor areas over the water. It’s complete waterfront dining in all its glory.
We are seeking a passionate, experienced Duty Manager to lead front‑of‑house operations and deliver outstanding experiences for our members and guests.
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager, the Duty Manager is responsible for the smooth and compliant operation of the venue during their shift. You will allocate work to and supervise employees across all frontline areas, while ensuring compliance with safety, stock, equipment, and liquor licence requirements.
Oversee day and night shifts, ensuring efficient and profitable operations
Lead by example with a hands‑on, calm approach during busy periods
Maintain excellent customer service standards and resolve issues promptly
Ensure quality food and beverage service and presentation
Drive sales and profitability through guest satisfaction and team engagement
Open and close the Club in line with safety and security procedures
Review bistro bookings and functions prior to each shift to plan staffing and service levels
Set up rooms and function spaces according to daily requirements
Ensure the Club is clean, safe, and appropriately set up for members and guests, including weather considerations
Assume full responsibility for the Club in the absence of the Food & Beverage Operations Manager
Coach, mentor, and manage staff performance to deliver a great customer experience
Adjust rosters as needed to maintain adequate coverage and labour cost efficiency
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Duty Manager or in a similar FOH management role within a licensed hospitality venue
Personable, engaging, and committed to creating a welcoming experience for guests and members
Confident leader who enjoys training and developing teams
Strong shift management and organisational skills, with a focus on service quality and financial performance
Able to remain calm and decisive under pressure, especially during peak trading times
Available to work weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and public holidays
Current NSW RSA, RCG, and First Aid certificates
Right to work in Australia
Sound understanding of NSW liquor laws, RSA obligations, and WHS requirements
Strong communication and people skills, with a collaborative approach
