Incorporated as a separate legal entity, the College is governed by its Constitution and applicable corporate and regulatory frameworks. The Board plays a vital role in ensuring the College remains faithful to its mission, while providing oversight of strategy, educational excellence, and long term sustainability.Mary Aikenhead Ministries schools are committed to promoting the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.
St Columba’s College BoardThe College is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified people to serve as non-executive Directors and contribute to the work of the Board and its committees, and whose experience will complement the existing skills and capability of the Board. Please refer to the Board Director Position Description for information on the role of a Board Director. All Board roles are pro bono.
While candidates with expertise across the areas below are encouraged to apply, the Board is particularly interested in candidates with strong accounting, finance and audit management experience, including candidates with the capability to contribute to and potentially chair the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee.
These voluntary appointments are for an initial three-year term, with the opportunity for reappointment. The Board meets a minimum of eight times each year. Directors are also expected to actively participate in mission, formation and College events, strategy workshops annually and Board committee meetings generally held monthly or quarterly, depending on the committee.

We are looking for non-executive directors with expertise in one or more of these areas:
Mission Stewardship Experience in Catholic education, mission and formation, educational policy and funding, and stewardship of Catholic identity, including an understanding of the Public Juridic Person (PJP).Accounting & Finance A recognised qualification in the field (e.g. CPA, CA, CFA) with demonstrated experience and understanding in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting principles.Governance & Policy Experience serving on corporate, not-for-profit, government, or school boards, with a sound understanding of governance principles & frameworks, board responsibilities, and policy development.Audit & Risk Management Experience in enterprise risk management, audit, assurance, compliance, internal controls, and organisational resilience.Philanthropy & Stakeholder Engagement Experience in fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, strategic partnerships, and philanthropic networks.ESG Experience in environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks, sustainability, social impact, and responsible stewardship.Digital Safety, Risk & Innovation Experience in digital safety, cyber security, data governance, data quality, privacy, artificial intelligence, technology risk, and innovation within education or other regulated environments.People & Culture Experience in workforce strategy, leadership, organisational culture, talent management, succession planning, employee relations, and wellbeing.
Applicants are not expected to cover all these areas.All Directors serve on at least one Board committee. All successful candidates will be subject to appropriate vetting.
