Head of Product | Unsecured SME Lending

We're partnering with a leading Australian non-bank lender to appoint its first Head of Product. This is a pivotal executive hire that will shape the future of an established unsecured SME lending portfolio, bringing greater strategic thinking, commercial discipline and long-term product leadership to the business.

This is not a traditional digital product leadership role.

We're looking for someone who has spent their career building and evolving lending products; someone who understands the commercial mechanics of unsecured lending and is equally comfortable discussing pricing, portfolio performance, credit risk and customer outcomes.

If you've owned products across working capital, unsecured business lending, revolving credit, business lines of credit, merchant cash advance or cashflow lending, this is an opportunity to influence far more than a roadmap.

You'll work directly with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to determine where the business invests, how the lending portfolio evolves, where new growth opportunities exist, and how Product becomes a genuine driver of commercial performance.

What you'll be responsible for
This is a genuine portfolio leadership role where you'll become the custodian of the business's lending products.

You'll lead decisions around:

• Long-term product strategy and portfolio direction
• Investment priorities across the lending portfolio
• New lending products, customer propositions and market opportunities
• Product pricing, commercial performance and portfolio optimisation
• Balancing customer outcomes with credit quality, lending economics and profitability
• Product lifecycle decisions, including where to invest, optimise, simplify or retire products
• Executive alignment across Product, Credit, Risk, Technology, Operations and Commercial teams
• Building stronger product capability, governance and strategic decision-making across the organisation

• Revolving credit facilities and business lines of credit
• Cashflow lending
• Credit product design and portfolio management
• Lending economics, pricing and profitability
• Risk-based product development
• Product leadership within regulated lending environments

You'll most likely have built your career within a specialist lender, non-bank lender or fintech where lending products sit at the core of the business. A strong analytical background, whether through mathematics, economics, actuarial studies, statistics, engineering or quantitative finance will be highly regarded.
