Registered Nurse | G0 Ward (Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical) | Mackay

Troocoo Healthcare is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for an agency placement within G0 Ward – Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical in Mackay.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse with a strong acute medical background to secure a short term regional Queensland contract.

Previous experience in an acute medical, stroke or similar setting is highly regarded.

The Opportunity

• Position: Registered Nurse – Grade 5
• Ward: G0 Ward – Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical
• Location: Mackay, Queensland
• Contract Dates: 31 August 2026 – 4 October 2026
• Roster: As per roster
• Shift Lengths: Rotating 8-hour and 12-hour shifts

About the Ward G0 Ward is a medical and stroke unit providing nursing care to patients with a broad range of acute medical conditions.

The unit is also planned to support the Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical Unit (AASMU), which provides care to patients requiring assessment and management of a variety of acute medical presentations.
The clinical environment includes:

• Acute medical nursing
• Acute stroke management, including post-thrombolysis care
• Management of exacerbations of chronic disease
• Palliative care
• Acute assessment and management
• Care of patients with complex medical needs

The unit currently consists of 22 beds, including 18 medical beds and 4 acute stroke beds, with the capacity to flex to 26 beds.

This placement would suit an RN who is confident working in a busy acute medical environment and is comfortable caring for patients with varying levels of acuity.

About You To be considered for this placement, you will have:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 2 years' clinical experience
• Current clinical currency within the relevant practice setting
• Recent experience in an acute hospital environment
• Ability to work rotating 8-hour and 12-hour shifts
• Availability for the full contract period
• Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
