Packaging Engineer

The Opportunity

Reporting to the State Sales Manager this role sits at the centre of engineering, design and commercial delivery.

As a Packaging Engineer, you’ll take ownership of developing and optimising corrugated packaging solutions, working closely with customers, sales and manufacturing teams to deliver smarter, more efficient outcomes.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll lead trials, influence design decisions and drive continuous improvement across both customer and plant environments.

What You Will Do

Design and deliver fit-for-purpose packaging solutionsLead product trials across plant and customer sitesOptimise board grades, carton design and specificationsPartner with customers to improve packaging performance and costSupport tenders with practical, commercially viable solutionsCollaborate with Sales, Design and Operations to deliver outcomesIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, throughput and marginContribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiativesProvide technical guidance on packaging machinery and performanceEnsure compliance with safety, quality and operational standards

What You Will Bring

Experience in packaging, manufacturing or product development (corrugated highly regarded)Strong understanding of packaging design, materials and production processesAbility to balance technical requirements with commercial outcomesExperience working directly with customers in a solutions-focused roleStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsConfident stakeholder engagement across operations and salesContinuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and innovation

We believe materials are not recycled until they’ve been made into new products. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals from households and businesses, and locally remanufacture them back into new, sustainable packaging.
