Senior Systems Engineer (Remote, Regional VIC)

Steadfast Solutions is an Australian Managed IT Services Provider (MSP) with over two decades supporting small and medium businesses — including regional Victorian mining and resources operations. We’re ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified, Microsoft-centred and automation-led, and we deliver to documented standards rather than one-off builds. We’re a genuinely single-accountable provider: from Microsoft 365 and security through to Cisco Meraki networking and telephony on our own voice platform.

We’re growing our engineering team and looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support and mature client environments — including semi-remote regional sites where reliable connectivity is safety-critical, not just a convenience. This is a remote-first role for someone based in regional Victoria: you’ll work primarily from home, with regular travel to client sites across regional Victoria (a company vehicle is provided for business use), plus the option to use our office when it suits. You’ll bring strong hands-on/onsite instincts to a role that’s delivered mostly remotely and by automation.

You’ll be the kind of engineer who owns complex issues end to end, documents as they go, and lifts the standard of every environment they touch.

Requirements

•    Microsoft 365 & identity — Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive; Microsoft Entra (Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, joiner/mover/leaver).

•    Endpoint & SOE — Microsoft Intune device provisioning, compliance and patch/lifecycle management across dispersed, multi-client fleets.

•    Networking — Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking, WiFi authentication to Entra, staff/contractor segmentation.

•    Connectivity & resilience — SD-WAN / SASE-aligned edge with diverse paths and automatic failover (e.g. Starlink + cellular) for semi-remote sites.

•    Security — Microsoft Defender EDR, managed firewall and web filtering, VPN, and alignment to the ACSC Essential Eight; 24/7 monitoring and alerting.

•    Telephony & collaboration — Microsoft Teams and Teams telephony on our own carrier-grade voice platform.

•    Backup & recovery — managed backup across infrastructure and Microsoft 365, with tested recovery.

Autotask (PSA / ticketing & time), N-able N-central (RMM), IT Glue (documentation), CIPP (M365 management), Microsoft Intune & Entra, Cisco Meraki dashboard. Everything is documented, standardised and auditable.

•    5+ years in an MSP environment, at a senior / Level 2–3 standard.

•    Deep, hands-on Microsoft 365, Entra and Intune administration.

•    Strong networking and connectivity troubleshooting (Meraki, SD-WAN/VPN, DNS/DHCP, wireless, multi-site).

•    A methodical, documentation-first approach and calm ownership of complex escalations.

•    Excellent communication — you can explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.

•    Comfortable working remotely and self-directed, with the flexibility to attend client sites or the office when needed.

•    Current Australian driver’s licence and full Australian working rights.

•    Based in regional Victoria.

•    Experience supporting mining, resources or other regional/industrial sites (semi-remote environments, site connectivity).

•    Microsoft certifications (e.g. MS-102, AZ-900, SC-900) and/or Cisco Meraki accreditation.

•    Firewall experience with Fortinet / FortiGate.

•    Exposure to SASE/SD-WAN, Starlink/cellular failover, Essential Eight uplift, or SOC/MDR.

•    Backup/DR and quarterly restore-testing experience.

Salary: $125,000 – $145,000 + superannuation
