About the role
As part of the continued growth of our services in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors, ERM has an exciting opportunity for Environmental Planning Consultants to join our team in Melbourne. We are seeking recent graduates and early career professionals with a keen interest in supporting decarbonisation efforts and helping deliver large-scale renewable energy, transport and major infrastructure projects that support the energy transition and create lasting benefits for local communities.
Working alongside some of Australia's leading planning, environmental and social impact practitioners, you will contribute to projects spanning environmental approvals, impact assessment and planning strategy. You will also have access to ERM's global Impact Assessment Technical Community, enabling you to collaborate with specialists across Australia and internationally, and learn from industry-leading projects and best practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for motivated professionals looking to build their technical, consulting and project delivery skills with a global sustainability leader.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting environmental approvals, environmental impact assessments and technical studies across a range of energy, infrastructure and resource projects.
Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, planning assessments, permit applications and environmental approval documentation.
Supporting project delivery, including coordinating project tasks, managing subcontractor inputs and liaising with clients and project teams.
Contributing to proposal preparation and business development activities.
Building strong collaborative relationships with ERM colleagues locally and globally through project teams and Technical Communities.
Developing technical, project management and consulting skills through structured learning and on-the-job experience.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
Recent graduate or up to 5 years' experience in statutory planning, environmental approvals, impact assessment or a related field.
An interest in renewable energy, major infrastructure and environmental planning projects.
Familiarity with Commonwealth and Victorian environmental and planning legislation would be advantageous.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical documentation.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage competing priorities.
A proactive attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.
Authorisation to work in Australia.
