Roller Operator/Labourer

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Labourer / Roller Operator to join our team. The role involves operating machine rollers to compact soil, gravel, asphalt and other materials on civil construction, roadworks and site development projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating the roller, assisting with general labouring duties and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate machine rollers safely and efficiently on construction and roadwork sites.
• Compact soil, gravel, asphalt and other materials to required specifications.
• Carry out daily pre-start inspections and report any mechanical or safety issues.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and site foremen.
• Assist with general labouring duties when required.
• Maintain the roller and ensure it is kept clean and in good working condition.
• Work safely around other machinery, vehicles and workers.
• Follow all site safety procedures, SWMS and company policies.
• Assist with site preparation, clean-up and material handling.
• Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors and other members of the crew.
• Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the supervisor.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience operating a roller or similar heavy machinery.
• Experience in civil construction, roadworks or earthworks is highly desirable.
• General labouring experience is an advantage.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Reliable, punctual and physically fit for construction work.
• Good awareness of surroundings and safe operating practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Licences & Requirements

• Relevant roller/machinery competency or licence where required.
• Construction White Card.
• Valid driver's licence is desirable.
• Relevant tickets and experience operating other plant are an advantage.

Pay: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38.0 per week
