As our Library Officer, you’ll be at the heart of Ravenhall’s prison library—a space where curiosity, learning, and personal growth can genuinely make a difference. You’ll help create an environment where the people in our care can access books, legal information, and education resources that support their wellbeing and future opportunities. Adding to the delivery of GEO’s Continuum of Care philosophy.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys helping others learn, loves keeping things organised, and feels comfortable working in a unique and structured environment. You’ll run the day‑to‑day operations of the library and lend a hand to the Education Supervisor with a variety of admin tasks.
Every day brings something different: chatting with the people in our care about what they like to read, helping someone find the right legal document, keeping the library collection fresh and relevant, or supporting education programs that encourage positive change.

Your Key Impact Areas
As the Learning Resource Coordinator, you will oversee and administer the Centre's Learning Resource area (Library). You will also support the duties of the Education Supervisor as needed. This position will ensure updated and relevant information/literature is available to people in our care through a variety of media.
Ensure the Learning Resource Centre is operating in a manner that supports leisure, legal, learning and education outcomes for prisoners.Administer and manage the center library and all resources associated with this service in accordance with RCC Operating Instructions, Commissioner Requirements and community standards,Maintaining a library with:Reading material for various interest groups and literacy levelsEducation material that supports current prisoner courses, including Distance EducationLegal documents, references and legislation that support current legal mattersPromote library services to the people in our care and staff at RavenhallMaintain appropriate library stock to ensure material remains current and relevantOperate and maintain associated database systems to record, catalogue and account for resourcesDevelop and administer schedules to ensure equitable access for the people in our care to available resources, be it electronic or hard copyProvide support and guidance to the people in our care using the libraryEnsure legal and other materials directly related to current legal needs for the people in our care is available via approved sourcesResearch the internet for Legal and educational purposes onlyMeet with Distance Education students under the guidance of the Education Supervisor to provide university resources to support their study Prepare and write reports using a variety of software packagesProvide basic security through the monitoring of prisoner activity and compliance to rulesParticipate in the prisoner Orientation for Education and Employment to promote the services offered by library,Assist with borrowing and book returns in the absence of library service workersAttend/complete approved training as requiredWork in conjunction with the Education Supervisor as required and assist:Prepare and minute education meetingsPrepare and mark attendance for Orientation sessionsSource resources and equipment as needed for the LRC and Education, prepare purchase documents, working within the appropriate budget.Other duties as required

Qualifications and/or equivalent experience in education or librarian fields, or substantial positive experience in a similar roleGood working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suiteProven understanding of education and training programs (experience with prisoners/offenders highly regarded)Demonstrated experience and skills in developing and implementing technological changeDemonstrated well-developed interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skillsAbility to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners\
