About the role
The Opportunity
Faith Lutheran College, Plainland is seeking an exceptional and visionary educational leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Head of Junior School on a 5-year fixed term contract.
This is a rare and pivotal opportunity to build a sub-school from the ground up, establishing the systems, culture and identity of the Wonder and Curiosity Phases (Prep to Year 4) as the College transitions to a three sub-school model and, from 2027, to a full P–12 Christian learning community, committed to awakening potential and empowering learners for purposeful lives through Christ.
About the College
Located in the heart of the Lockyer Valley, Faith Lutheran College is a thriving co-educational school of more than 850 students, known for its innovative, future-focused approach to learning and strong Christ-centred culture.
As the College continues its growth toward a full Prep–12 model (from 2027), this is an exciting time to join a community committed to educational excellence, innovation, and authentic Christian formation.
Rather than a rigid year-level structure, the College has developed a phased learning model consisting of:
Junior School
Wonder Phase (Prep–Year 2) Opening 2029
Curiosity Phase (Years 3–4) Opening 2028
Middle School
Discovery Phase (Years 5–6) Opening 2027
Foundation Phase (Years 7–8)
Senior School
Exploration Phase (Years 9–10)
Graduate Phase (Years 11–12)
The Role
Reporting to the Principal and working closely with the Deputy Principal (Education), Deputy Principal (College Life) and the College Executive Team, the Head of Junior School will lead the strategic and operational direction of our youngest learners' school experience, curriculum, wellbeing, pastoral care and co-curricular life, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and grounded in Faith's Christ-centred culture of connection, belonging and care.
About You
You are a passionate, servant-hearted educational leader with a genuine love for young children and an active, authentic Christian faith. You bring proven leadership experience in the early or primary years, strong curriculum expertise (including QCAA requirements, assessment and reporting), and a track record of building trust with students, staff and families. Above all, you relish the opportunity to found something new, bringing the energy, creativity and resilience to build strong foundations, systems and traditions from the ground up.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Tertiary qualifications in Education, with full (or eligible) registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
Proven leadership experience in a junior educational setting, ideally Prep to Year 4
Strong understanding of early literacy, numeracy and wellbeing frameworks
A deep, active commitment to the Christian faith and Lutheran school ethos
Why Join Faith Lutheran College?
Be part of an innovative and growing P–12 learning community
Shape the future of teaching and learning in a Christ-centred environment
Work alongside a committed and collaborative Executive Leadership Team
Contribute to a culture where every learner is known, valued and supported
