About the role
Brain Injury SA (BISA) is looking for a passionate physiotherapist ready to start building their career in one of the most rewarding areas of allied health. This is a genuine opportunity to grow your clinical skills from day one: you'll build your own caseload, learn from one of South Australia's most experienced interdisciplinary neuro teams, and be supported every step of the way as you develop into the clinician you want to become.
No two clients are alike. No two days are the same. The progress you'll witness is the kind that reminds you why you chose this career.
THE ROLE Physiotherapist (Early Career) — Elizabeth Hub Part-time | Salary negotiated on experience
Brain injury is one of the most complex and rewarding areas of allied health practice — and at BISA, we've spent decades building a team and environment where early-career physiotherapists can thrive and grow.
Based at our Elizabeth hub, you'll work within a clinic environment alongside clients at every stage of their acquired brain injury (ABI) rehabilitation journey. Your sessions will take you from the clinic floor to people's homes, to community settings, and wherever life's goals lead — whether that's retraining gait, improving transfers, or helping someone get back on their fishing boat.
This role is a genuine launchpad: with support and mentoring built in from day one, there's real potential to grow your caseload, your responsibilities, and your career within BISA over time.
WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT
🧠 Specialist neuro focus, from day one You'll work exclusively with adults living with ABI — a rare opportunity to build deep neurological expertise early in your career, in a way that generalist roles simply can't offer.
🤝 A truly interdisciplinary team You won't be working in a silo. BISA's team includes occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, counsellors, positive behaviour support practitioners, allied health assistants and a dietitian. Collaborative goal setting isn't a buzzword here — it's how every client's care is shaped.
📈 Outcomes you can see Over 80% of BISA clients achieve significant progress on their short and long-term goals. You'll build long-term relationships with clients and families, and you'll see real change happen.
👥 Backed by 20+ years of collective expertise You'll be supported by a physiotherapy team with extraordinary depth of experience — along with operational managers who are practising clinicians themselves. You'll never be left to figure out a complex case alone.
🎓 A teaching culture that develops you BISA has a close relationship with Flinders University and hosts students across multiple disciplines. Mentorship and professional development are built into how we work, so you'll be learning from day one — with a clear path to grow your skills and confidence over time.
💡 Room to innovate Have an idea for a new group program? A creative approach to a client challenge? BISA actively supports curious, innovative clinical thinking — and gives you the environment to put it into practice, both in the gym and out in the community.
⚖️ A genuinely flexible organisation Part-time applicants are equally considered. Full salary packaging benefits apply as a profit-for-purpose organisation.
ABOUT YOU This role is well-suited to a new or early-career physiotherapist who is enthusiastic, eager to learn, and motivated by meaningful work in a supportive team environment.
You will bring:
A relevant Physiotherapy qualification and current AHPRA registration
Experience with adult clients (new graduates welcome to apply)
A strong interest in neurological and ABI rehabilitation
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to build a varied caseload with the support of an experienced team
Current driver's licence and right to work in Australia
Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Check (or willingness to obtain)
NDIS knowledge is desirable but not essential.
