Accountant

A full-time position for a friendly, organised and hardworking team member to fill the role of a hands-on internal management and tax accountant for a wholesale and retail steel fabrication business and its associated entities (including trusts and a SMSF) responsible for reporting directly to the managing director/owner and external accountants.

The business is a family run and owned business with the head office based in Western Sydney with the business operating nation-wide.

The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum skill set and qualifications :

-          Skills Required:

o   Excellent computer skills with experience in a variety of accounting software packages and excel

o   Methodical and thorough approach to tasks

o   Ability to manage and report to deadlines

The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional spoken and written English proficiency, equivalent to first-language competency, with the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues. They must also must be honourable and demonstrate honesty, integrity, reliability and a consistently professional approach.

 -          Qualifications:

o   Australian based tertiary accounting qualification with a minimum of 7 - 10 years work experience in the field of commercial and cost accounting in Australia

o   Competency with the general ledger, journal entries and reconciliations

o   Experience with GST and BAS preparation, payroll tax returns, etc.

o   Taxation general knowledge / exposure

o   Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

o   Strong attention to detail and time management skills

-          Tasks will include:

o   Payroll and associated tasks for 50+ staff

o   Debtor and creditor management

o   Reconciliations

o   Balance sheet and month end processes

o   Producing monthly management reports

o   Provision of information to external accountant / Tax Agent

o   Preparation of year end reports and reconciliations for external accountant

o   Ad hoc project work
