Your new role:

Reporting to the maintenance manager and working as part of a cross functional operations maintenance team you will be integral in the execution of the Kalfresh automation projects, on farm projects, processing and packing equipment. The installation and continuous improvement of new and existing lines will be your primary responsibility. The right person can mentor the apprentices and assist fitters in our daily PM’s and breakdowns.

This role will include Day shift, afternoon shift and night shift. Shift times change throughout the year as we are a fresh produce company demand for coverage is seasonal.

Afternoon and night shift command shift allowance where applicable.

This is a technical hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on best practice industrial automation and continuous improvement. You will have exposure to pre- and post-harvest, Kalfresh operate several processing and packing production lines each containing a mixture of integrated OEM, custom designed equipment, manual operating and automated equipment.

On any given day this job may include:

• Monitoring, operation, fault finding and repair of automated produce farming and processing equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
• Installation, set up and testing of new food processing and packing equipment.
• Installation or relocation, modification, testing and set up of new and refurbished equipment.
• Troubleshoot and fix mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
• Coach and mentor the production team to increase their knowledge of fault identification and troubleshooting.
• Maximise up-time through effective execution of all maintenance-related activities.
• Facilitate continuous improvement activities through broad system knowledge and site-specific enhancements.

About you:

• Strong electrical aptitude, with excellent fault finding and troubleshooting abilities.
• Electrical trade qualifications required.
• Dual trade qualifications will be highly regarded. We value a proactive, hands-on mindset with the willingness to and get the job done.
• The ability to work with the various subcontractors and OEM’s in order to gain knowledge on machine operation and maintenance.
• Basic PLC understanding and VSD programming required.
• Previous experience maintaining automated packing equipment is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and making sure processes are documented simply.
• Strong communicator, with the ability to work effectively with other trades and production.

Meets the physical fitness requirements including:

• Work can be in the cold room facilities and out in the paddock in hot humid Queensland summer.
• Frequent walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time.
• Lifting, pulling and pushing up to 25kgs unassisted.

This is a permanent full-time position based in our Kalbar site, so it would ideally suit someone who lives locally or wanting a tree-change to the Scenic Rim region.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Kalbar QLD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
