CNC Router Operator / Cabinetmaking Machinist

Structural Concept Australia is a South Australian manufacturer specialising in premium commercial joinery, hospitality fit-outs and bespoke interior solutions.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced CNC Router Operator / Cabinetmaking Machinist to join our production team.

Please note: This is not a metal machining or CNC milling position. We are looking for someone with experience operating flatbed CNC routers used in cabinetmaking and commercial joinery.

About the Role

Working within our modern joinery manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for setting up and operating flatbed CNC routers, edgebanders and associated woodworking machinery used to manufacture cabinetry and custom joinery components.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands commercial joinery production and can confidently set up machines, change tooling, troubleshoot issues and maintain production quality.

You will work closely with our drafting and production teams to ensure projects are manufactured accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate flatbed CNC routers used in commercial joinery production.

• Load and run CNC nesting programs.

• Set up, operate and optimise automatic edgebanders.

• Perform tooling changes, machine calibration and production changeovers.

• Monitor machining quality and production efficiency.

• Read production drawings, cutting lists and manufacturing documentation.

• Carry out routine preventative maintenance on CNC routers, edgebanders and factory machinery.

• Troubleshoot machine faults and minimise downtime.

• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.

• Assist with continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Previous experience operating flatbed CNC routers in a cabinetmaking or commercial joinery environment.

• Experience with nested-based manufacturing.

• Experience operating automatic edgebanders.

• Sound knowledge of cabinetry manufacturing processes.

• Ability to read workshop drawings and production documentation.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability.

• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to work independently and within a team.

• Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).

Experience with SCM CNC routers, SCM Maestro software and SCM edgebanders will be highly regarded.
