Junior Maintenance Officer

About the Role

St Alberts College is seeking a reliable and motivated Junior Maintenance Officer to join our Maintenance team. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in facilities, maintenance, and property services within an educational environment.

The successful applicant will assist in maintaining the college's buildings, grounds, and facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with general maintenance and repair tasks across the college campus.

• Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

• Carry out minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and handyman duties as required.

• Maintain outdoor areas, including gardening, mowing, edging, and general groundskeeping.

• Complete cleaning duties including:

  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming designated areas.

  • Cleaning classrooms, offices, staff facilities, and common areas as required.

  • Emptying bins and managing waste disposal and recycling.

  • Cleaning windows, outdoor furniture, and other facilities.

  • Assisting with emergency cleaning and spill response when required.

• Support the setup and pack-down of college events and activities.

• Assist with deliveries, stock movement, and equipment transportation.

• Respond to maintenance and cleaning requests in a timely and professional manner.

• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Essential Requirements

• Current and valid Australian Driver's Licence.

• Demonstrated ability to undertake maintenance and cleaning duties.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling and outdoor work.

• Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.

• Eligibility to work in Australia.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience in maintenance, cleaning, facilities management, groundskeeping, or a related field.

• Trade qualification or relevant vocational training (advantageous but not essential).

• Experience working in a school, college, or educational environment.

• Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
