The Veterans' Review Board is a specialist merits review tribunal committed to delivering fair, timely and accessible review outcomes for veterans, serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

As a Deputy State Registrar, you will lead one of the VRB's client service teams based in Sydney or Brisbane and play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of the Board. 

Working closely with State Registrars, National Registry staff and VRB Members, you will lead a team of Client Service Officers, oversee registry operations and help ensure veterans, representatives and other stakeholders receive a high standard of service.

Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available, with regular attendance at the Sydney or Brisbane Registry required to support staff and tribunal operations.

• Work collaboratively with the state registrars to deliver an efficient, high quality service to veterans, serving members and their families. 
• Work collaboratively with the state registrars to provide guidance to client service officers, allocate and monitor the duties of client service officers, conduct quality assurance of registry work and facilitate training of client service officers.  
• Support the work of VRB members providing administrative and information technology assistance.
• Provide assistance to parties and representatives on more complex legal and procedural matters. 
• Develop and maintain an advanced working knowledge of the practices and procedures of the VRB, and contribute to continuous improvement of registry processes. 
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes and services.
• Embrace new technologies and contribute to innovation. 
• Develop the capability of client service staff through leadership and mentoring. 
• Contribute to continuous improvement across Board operations. 
• Attend the registry as required to support staff and Board operations under flexible working arrangements. 

• Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS). 
• Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
• Any successful candidate will also be required to obtain and/or maintain, a baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
