Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Consulting Arborist role based in locations around Melbourne, VIC. The Consulting Arborist will conduct tree and vegetation assessments, including health, risk, and condition inspections across a range of sites. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing clear, professional arborist reports, management plans, and recommendations for clients, as well as providing expert advice on tree preservation, removal, and replacement, tree inspections/audit/inventory capture. The role involves liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, interpreting relevant standards and guidelines, and contributing to project planning and compliance. The Consulting Arborist will also support data collection, mapping, and record-keeping, and may mentor junior team members or assist in delivering internal training.
QualificationsStrong arboriculture foundation, including Arboriculture and Certified Arborist credentials or equivalent qualifications.Applied tree expertise, including Tree Identification skills and practical experience working with a variety of Trees in urban and natural environments.Relevant sector knowledge, such as experience in Forestry or vegetation management, ideally within consultancy or local government contexts.Formal qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (certificate, diploma, or degree).Proficiency in written reporting, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and defensible technical documents and recommendations.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and field teams.Competence in using field data collection tools and basic mapping or GIS software is advantageous.Current driver’s license and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain, following safety procedures at all times.
