Majestic Mushrooms is an established commercial mushroom producer supplying premium fresh mushrooms throughout Australia, with exciting plans to expand into international export markets.

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead our Food Safety and Quality Management Systems and help drive our next phase of growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys implementing world-class food safety systems, leading audits, developing people, and working closely with production teams to achieve continuous improvement.

The successful applicant will play a key role in developing export-ready quality systems while ensuring our products consistently meet Australian and international food safety requirements.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance across our growing, harvesting, packing, cold storage and dispatch operations.

You will lead our Quality Management System while working closely with production staff to build a strong food safety culture throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and continually improve the company's Food Safety Management System.
• Maintain HACCP, Freshcare and customer quality assurance programs.
• Develop systems that comply with Australian export requirements and international customer standards.
• Lead certification, surveillance, customer and regulatory audits.
• Plan and conduct internal audits and supplier audits.
• Maintain document control, SOPs, specifications and quality records.
• Lead product traceability exercises and mock recalls.
• Investigate customer complaints and implement effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
• Conduct risk assessments and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring and microbiological verification programs.
• Ensure calibration and verification of quality monitoring equipment.
• Work closely with production, harvesting, maintenance and logistics teams to improve product quality.
• Develop quality KPIs and provide regular management reporting.
• Deliver food safety and quality training across all departments.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, auditors and regulatory authorities regarding quality matters.

About You

You are a proactive QA professional who enjoys balancing technical compliance with practical problem-solving on the factory floor.

You have a passion for food safety and enjoy mentoring teams to continually improve quality performance.

Essential

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Bio-engineering, Microbiology or similar.
• Minimum five years' experience in Quality Assurance within food manufacturing or fresh produce.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP-based Food Safety Management Systems.
• Experience managing Freshcare or equivalent GFSI-recognised certification systems.
• Experience preparing for and leading third-party certification audits.
• Strong understanding of traceability systems and document control.
• Experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing CAPA.
• Experience leading internal audits and supplier audits.
• Strong understanding of GMP, GHP and food hygiene requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to deliver training and build a positive food safety culture.
• High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

Highly Desirable

• Lead Auditor qualification (FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 or equivalent).
• Experience implementing or maintaining FSSC 22000.
• Experience working with export food standards and international customer requirements.
• Experience within fresh produce, horticulture, mushrooms or other primary food production.
• Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of microbiological testing and environmental monitoring programs.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and cross-functional continuous improvement projects.
