Participant Overview (De-Identified)

The participant requiring support lives with multiple complex medical and psychosocial conditions, including mental health diagnoses and physical mobility impairments. They use a wheelchair, require full assistance with daily activities, and benefit from consistent, structured, and proactive support.

Support Schedule Requirements

Weekly Support Needs:

• Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
• Saturday: 4 hours (flexible timing)
• Additional weekly evenings:
• Tuesday: 5:00pm – 9:30pm
• Fortnightly Monday & Thursday: 5:00pm – 9:30pm

Support workers must be reliable and committed to maintaining routine.

Key Responsibilities Daily Living & Personal Support

• Provide full physical assistance with daily activities, grooming, and mobility.
• Assist with transfers and wheelchair handling (must be able to lift/secure wheelchair into car).

Community Access

• Support the participant to engage in shopping trips, social outings, and community activities.
• Workers must have access to a vehicle on designated community days (e.g., Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Therapy Support

• Assist with transport to and from therapy appointments (physio, hydrotherapy, podiatry).
• Encourage and celebrate functional improvements (e.g., increased standing tolerance).

Preferred Worker Attributes

• Female staff preferred due to rapport and participant comfort.
• Warm, bubbly, proactive personality – not passive or reserved.
• Experience with psychosocial disabilities, behavior support, and complex care.
• Ability to manage emotional situations professionally and empathetically.
• Comfortable with manual handling, vehicle transfers, and supporting mobility.
• Must not be allergic to cats.

Pay: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour
