Casual Barista / Front of House

About the role

As a Barista / FOH at Café Lewi, you will be the face of our coffee experience, responsible for crafting exceptional coffee beverages and providing a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere for our customers, as well as serving and preparing alcoholic beverages. You will ensure that every guest has a memorable visit by offering high-quality service, maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the café, and working as part of a team to keep the café running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and espresso drinks according to Café Lewi's recipes and standards.

• Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude, assist them with menu choices, and ensure they have a positive experience from start to finish.

• Accurately take and process customer orders, ensuring that orders are communicated clearly to the kitchen and barista team.

• Serve food and drinks in a timely and professional manner. Ensure all items are presented beautifully and in line with Café Lewi's standards.

• Set up and clear tables, assist in maintaining an organised dining area, and ensure a comfortable environment for customers.

• Process payments using the cash register, handle cash and credit transactions accurately, and provide change as necessary.

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the dining area, ensure high standards of cleanliness are upheld throughout the shift.

• Address customer questions, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally. Escalate any issues to the Café Owner if needed.

• Work closely with the kitchen and barista team to ensure smooth communication and efficient service. Help other staff members as required.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety practices and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

About you

• Prior experience as a barista for a minimum of 1-2 years, able to make latte art at a consistent fast pace.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

• Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality beverages.

• Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.

• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.

• Must have an RSA for serving alcohol and alcohol beverages.

• Must be able to handle 3kg-5kg of coffee solo.
