Position: Full-Time Chef (38 hours per week)

Salary: $79,499 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the Role

BROWN BOYS MIDWEST PTY LTD is seeking a motivated and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, assisting with menu planning, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen. Experience in preparing authentic Indian cuisine will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals.
• Plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Assist with menu planning and development.
• Monitor inventory, order supplies and minimise food wastage.
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
• Work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.

Skills and Licences

• Sound knowledge of commercial kitchen operations.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or ability to obtain) is desirable.
• Experience preparing Indian cuisine is preferred.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold one of the following:

• AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery; or
• Diploma of Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery/Chef); or
• An equivalent qualification recognised in Australia.

Experience

Applicants must have at least 12 months of relevant full-time (or equivalent) experience, preferably working with Indian cuisine.
