About the role As the Quantity Surveyor the primary objective of the Quantity Surveyor is to undertake material take-offs and determine quantities and part lists in response to client tenders and demands. Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Providing expert advice on different forms of contracts, contractual claims, progress payments, variations, and procurement strategies.
• Drafting conditions and qualifications to reduce project risks and contributing to tender preparations.
• Assessing likely occupational health, safety, and environmental hazards.
• Liaising with Project Managers and clients to coordinate and solve design and constructability issues.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying (or a relevant discipline), 5 to 10 years of experience in civil contracting work, and proficiency in software applications such as 12D, Civil CAD, or Auto CAD Key Responsibilities

• Drive Tender Success: Conduct detailed material take-offs and accurately determine quantities and part lists to support client tenders and demands.
• Contract & Risk Management: Examine complex contract documents and drawings, draft specific conditions to minimize project risks, and provide expert advice on contract forms, claims, progress payments, and variations.
• Financial & Operational Oversight: Contribute to annual operational and capital budgets, oversee project work methods to ensure the efficient use of plant and labor, and implement corrective measures to address any budget variances.
• Strategic Procurement: Advise on procurement strategies and identify ongoing opportunities to improve tendering and cost management processes.
• Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Actively liaise with Project Managers and clients to resolve design and constructability issues, foster strong ongoing client relationships, and professionally negotiate work.
• Champion Health & Safety: Assess and identify potential OH&S and environmental hazards, actively promoting and participating in safety initiatives to ensure a secure working environment.
• Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and manage team members by prioritizing work efficiently and fostering a culture of personal accountability and continuous development.

About you

• A minimum of a degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in quantity surveying, specifically for civil contracting work.
• Considerable experience using quantity surveying software applications such as 12D, Civil CAD, or Auto CAD.
• A working knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and employee relations legislation.
• Demonstrable success in a business or project operations management role at a similar level.
• Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, as well as proactively build relationships with key stakeholders.
• Experience contributing to the preparation of operational budgets, reviewing financial information, and developing business plans.
• Strong project planning, organizational, and time management skills, along with the ability to review and streamline processes and transactional activities.
