About the role
Europcar is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team supporting our Australia and New Zealand operations on a permanent full time basis located at our Head Office in Tullamarine, Victoria.
Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Health & Safety Coordinator will lead WHS across Australia and New Zealand, providing expert advice, strengthening safety practices, managing workplace risks and ensuring compliance with legislation and Group standards.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
Develop, implement and continuously improve Europcar's WHS management framework and ensure compliance with all applicable WHS legislation across Australia and New Zealand
Monitor legislative developments and emerging regulatory requirements, providing advice and recommendations to the business
Develop and maintain WHS policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation
Conduct workplace inspections, audits and compliance reviews across the network
Lead hazard identification, risk assessments and implementation of effective control measures, including manual handling, vehicle loading and unloading, vehicle cleaning operations, traffic management plans, environmental compliance, asbestos management and emergency management planning
Lead investigations into workplace incidents and near misses, determine root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions
Develop contractor safety management processes and ensure contractors meet WHS requirements before commencing work
Coordinate workers compensation / ACC and Return to Work programs, support injured employees and managers throughout rehabilitation processes
Administer and continually enhance the Company's WHS platform (Mitti / SafetyCulture) and develop meaningful dashboards and KPI reporting
Provide practical WHS advice to managers and operational leaders, build management capability through coaching, education and workplace guidance
To be considered you should possess:
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Workplace Health & Safety
Experience within multi-site operations, logistics, transport, automotive or retail environments preferred
Demonstrated experience implementing WHS management systems
Experience conducting investigations, audits and risk assessments
Strong understanding of contractor management and compliance frameworks
Experience supporting Workers Compensation and Return to Work programs
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
Diploma or tertiary qualification in WHS highly regarded
Return to Work Coordinator certification (desirable)
Experience with Mitti / Safety Culture is highly advantageous
Current Driver Licence
