Our client manages a family focused group of boutique early learning centres committed to delivering outstanding education and care. Their purpose built centre in the Hamlyn Terrace region of the Central Coast, NSW is seeking a passionate and dedicated child care professional to join the team in a key organisational leadership role and continue their success.

This is a varied position combining leadership, administration and direct work with children in a mid-sized service. The successful applicant may be considered for Educational Leader duties, will include Responsible Person duties, subject to their qualifications, experience and suitability. There is some flexibility as to which classroom you would be lead teacher for.

The Assistant Director will play an important role in maintaining these standards while helping the team continue to develop and grow.

About the Role

Working closely with the Centre Director and broader management team, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of the service and contribute to its educational direction.

Key responsibilities will include:

• supporting the Centre Director with service operations, administration and compliance;

• undertaking Responsible Person duties when appointed;

• leading and supporting educators to deliver high-quality programs and practice;

• guiding the implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework;

• supporting curriculum planning, observations, documentation and reflective practice;

• assisting with staff mentoring, professional development and performance expectations;

• maintaining high standards of supervision, health, safety and child protection;

• building positive and respectful relationships with children and families;

• supporting the service to maintain strong enrolments and community relationships;

• helping to create inviting, well-resourced and purposeful learning environments;

• participating in continuous improvement and quality-assurance processes; and

• contributing ideas and feedback to the leadership and management team.

You will work directly the Centre Director and other senior team members across the organisation. Your professional contribution will be welcomed, and you will have genuine opportunities to influence service practices and organisational development.

About You

You will be an approachable and motivating leader who enjoys working alongside educators and children.

You will bring:

• previous experience in early childhood education and care, preferably in a senior educator, room leader, Educational Leader, Assistant Director or similar position;

• strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard and applicable Education and Care Services legislation;

• sound administrative and organisational skills;

• excellent attention to detail;

• high professional standards and a commitment to continuous improvement;

• the ability to provide clear guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback to educators;

• confidence communicating with families, colleagues, management and external stakeholders;

• a friendly, professional and solutions-focused manner;

• the ability to work collaboratively while also managing responsibilities independently; and

• a genuine commitment to providing safe, inclusive and enriching experiences for every child.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

Applicants must hold:

• a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education, an approved equivalent early childhood teaching qualification, or a Diploma-level early childhood education and care qualification;

• a current Working with Children Check;

• current HLTAID012 first aid training, including current anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management requirements;

• current CHCPRT025 or recognised equivalent child protection training;

• current child protection refresher training completed within the required timeframe;

• current Child Safe Foundations training up to level 5

• appropriate food safety training or certification;

• Responsible Person training of willing to undergo;

• any required teachers registration

Applicants must also:

• be available to work across Monday to Friday between approximately 7.00 am and 6.00 pm, according to operational requirements;

• have no current prohibition notice or other restriction preventing them from working in an education and care service;

• complete all required prohibition declarations and clearance checks;

• be suitable and willing to undertake Responsible Person duties where appointed;

• maintain all qualifications, checks, registrations and professional development required for the position;

• provide details for two recent professional referees; and

• be able to safely perform the inherent physical and operational requirements of the position, with reasonable workplace adjustments considered where appropriate.
