About the role
Heywood Rural Health is seeking a Part-time Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator to lead and strengthen our organisation-wide infection prevention and control program. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring compliance with national standards, legislative requirements, and best practice guidelines, while driving continuous quality improvement across our health service. Working collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams, the successful candidate will provide expert leadership in infection prevention, surveillance, outbreak management, staff immunisation programs, accreditation readiness, and risk management. This role is instrumental in promoting a safe environment for consumers, staff, volunteers, and visitors, while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in patient care.
Key responsibilities
Lead and strengthen organisation-wide infection prevention and control program
Ensure compliance with national standards, legislative requirements, and best practice guidelines
Drive continuous quality improvement across the health service
Provide expert leadership in infection prevention, surveillance, and outbreak management
Manage staff immunisation programs
Support accreditation readiness
Manage risk in infection prevention and control
Liaise with all levels of staff on a day-to-day basis
About you
Accredited Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator or prepared to work towards
Knowledge and commitment to Quality Management and Accreditation processes
Ability to function with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability in collection and analysis of audit data
Infection Prevention and Control post graduate qualification
Accredited Nurse Immuniser or willing to obtain Accredited Nurse Immuniser
