At Staying Independent, our Support Workers are a core part of the care team - working alongside Allied Health professionals including Occupational Therapists, and Speech Pathologists, with direct collaboration for each participant.

Current Support Worker Opportunities

We are recruiting for specific Support Worker roles.

• Role 1: Complex Care Support Workers (Immediate start)

  We are building a small dedicated team for one participant: a young woman returning home from hospital with high physical support needs. She is a new mother and her baby lives with her.

  This is hands-on work: full personal care, mealtime assistance, transfers and mobility, and practical support so she can parent her baby herself.
  

• Role 2: Mental Health Support Workers

  Support daily living: personal care, meals, planning, budgeting, household tasks. Facilitate community access, appointments, education and employment. Implement Allied Health plans and maintain progress notes

Each Support Worker is carefully matched with participants based on interests, experience, location, and compatibility - ensuring positive outcomes for both clients and staff.

About You

• Must have a valid drivers licence and access to a reliable car. You may need to take a participant into the community. Staff are paid $0.99 per km on shift. All tolls, parking, expenses are reimbursed.

• Nursing background or experience working with clients who require more complex care than a standard shift highly valued. Some shifts will be paid at high intensity rates.

• Experience supporting people with one or more of the disability areas listed above.

• Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, Aged Care, or equivalent experience

• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with participants and families

• NDIS Worker Screening Check, WWCC, First Aid Certificate, and National Police Check

• Support participants with daily living activities including personal care, meal preparation, planning, budgeting, and household tasks

• Facilitate community access and participation including social outings, education, employment, and appointments
