Senior Pharmacy Assistant / Retail Coordinator – Western Suburbs

Are you an experienced pharmacy assistant who likes things organised, accurate and done properly?

We are looking for a mature, reliable and self-motivated Senior Pharmacy Assistant / Retail Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day retail operation of a friendly community pharmacy.

This is not a heavily staff-management-focused position. Instead, it is an opportunity for an experienced pharmacy person who enjoys being hands-on, serving customers and taking responsibility for ordering, pricing, merchandising and stock control.

Working alongside the pharmacist and dispensary technician, you will be the key person responsible for the front-of-shop retail operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing friendly, professional customer service

• Ordering stock according to sales and usage

• Receiving and processing supplier invoices accurately

• Ensuring products are entered against the correct stock cards and correct pricing

• Maintaining accurate RRPs and avoiding unnecessary duplicate stock cards

• Monitoring stock levels to minimise over-ordering, under-ordering and dead stock

• Maintaining and merchandising the pharmacy's core range

• Identifying and taking advantage of appropriate supplier buying deals

• General stock management and retail presentation

• Assisting with the introduction and maintenance of customer loyalty programs

• Taking genuine ownership of the retail side of the pharmacy

The pharmacy uses Fred Office and Fred POS, so previous experience with these systems would be highly regarded.

The pharmacy is part of Independent Pharmacies Australia (IPA). Experience with IPA programs, core ranges or associated buying programs would be a definite advantage.

There are also plans to introduce Buy-It-Right, providing an opportunity for the successful person to become involved in improving purchasing and stock management.

We are particularly interested in someone who is:

• An experienced Senior Pharmacy Assistant with good community pharmacy knowledge

• Able to work 9 to 6pm 4 days pw

• Mature, dependable and reliable

• Accurate with pricing, invoices and stock records

• Confident with ordering and inventory control

• Able to recognise when stock is moving — and when it isn't

• Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision

• Comfortable taking responsibility and using initiative

• Customer focused, practical and well organised

• Happy working independently as the sole pharmacy assistant during quieter periods

You don't need to manage a large team. What matters is your ability to manage the retail operation well.

4 weekdays per week – 9.00am to 6.00pm, with a 30-minute lunch break

Preferred days:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

The staffing structure varies throughout the week. At different times you will work alongside another experienced pharmacy assistant, the owner pharmacist, the pharmacist and a dispensary technician. On two of the quieter days, you will generally be the sole retail pharmacy assistant.
