Operations Manager

About the role

Develop, execute, manage and be financially responsible for the operations department at our clients Head Office in Chelsea Heights. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the production team and the warehouse team, and also for the operations office team, comprising purchasing, planning, logistics and supervisory staff.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain and production capability to support sales and manufacturing

• Establish performance metrics for measurement, comparison and improvement of factors affecting the operation

• Develop policies and procedures to increase efficiency throughout the operation whilst ensuring quality and safety

• Identify and implement optimal international and domestic freight methods and costs

• Assess the need for capital equipment and staffing; make recommendations to ensure efficient materials handling for despatch, receipt, inter warehouse movement, and storage of materials

• Achieve best in class for costs for services, raw materials, finished goods and freight and logistics

• Monitor supplier performance, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements

• Identify and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with other departments

• Identify opportunities to control costs and improve margins and follow through with actions to utilise these opportunities

• Maintain on-time-delivery performance to maintain customer satisfaction

About you

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong people management skills

• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

• Sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP)

• Understanding of the production planning process

• Understanding of the sales and marketing function

• Understanding of financial function and budgeting processes

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
