The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, DEWC Services is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Software Engineering team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge Defence capabilities.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, delivering innovative and mission critical C4ISREW (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare) solutions to Defence customers. You will provide technical leadership, support project delivery, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to DEWC's innovation and research initiatives.

As a senior member of the team, you will combine strong technical expertise with client engagement and project leadership responsibilities, helping shape the future of Defence technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply contemporary technical knowledge, experience and subject matter expertise to provide C4ISREW solutions for DEWC clients.
• Design, develop, implement and support scalable full-stack software solutions using modern technologies and best practices.
• Align with client contractual obligations and develop deliverables that meet specific task requirements and client expectations.
• Contribute and integrate within multidisciplinary engineering teams across a range of Defence projects.
• Design and deploy modern applications leveraging microservices architecture, cloud technologies, APIs and containerisation tools.
• Build and maintain responsive frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Vue or Svelte.
• Develop robust backend services and APIs using technologies such as Python and Java Spring Boot.
• Identify and deliver innovative improvements to enhance the performance, scalability, security and reliability of C4ISREW systems.
• Continuously develop C4ISREW expertise through research, collaboration with DEWC personnel and partner organisations, and ongoing professional development.
• Support DEWC's innovation programs including IRAD, internal business enhancement initiatives and other strategic projects.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment processes.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical decision making to maintain high quality software outcomes.
• Perform project lead responsibilities as required, including client liaison, schedule tracking and resource utilisation.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
• Embody DEWC's vision, mission and values to support the growth and sustainment of DEWC.
• Work independently and collaboratively as required across various projects and initiatives.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by management.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in a Senior Full Stack Software Engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, Java Spring Boot, Docker and modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Vue or Svelte.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing applications using microservices architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining containerised applications using Docker and related technologies.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including security principles and services.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including software design, configuration management, testing and code quality practices.
• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases and integrating diverse data sources.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, systems integration and scalable enterprise application development.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working directly with clients.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical activities, mentor team members and contribute to project delivery.
• Experience using version control and collaboration tools including Git, Jira and Confluence.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Current or reinstatable AGSVA Security Clearance (highly desirable).
