Who are we?

From the team behind the State Buildings, Lawson Flats is a new kind of membership-based social club spanning three floors in one of the city’s last remaining Art Deco jewels.

Opening in February 2023, Lawson Flats is equal parts health and hedonism. Our member community has access to a collection of rooms fit for work, life, and play with co-working spaces, karaoke and listening rooms, an art gallery, movement studios, and Luis’ bar and kitchen by one of Perth’s leading chefs at the heart.

Every day is different at Lawson flats which keeps it interesting. Our restaurant ‘Luis’ is open Mon – Sat and is based on a European brasserie with a fresh and vibrant approach to food and drink. The rest of the building will host everything from working lunch meetings, drink and canape parties in the karaoke and music rooms, set lunches and dinners up to 40 in any of our private rooms and even whole club takeovers for up to 300 where anything food and drink goes. It’s never a dull moment.

Summary:

The Commis Chef is responsible for supporting the Kitchen team during service, ensuring that all preparation and cooking is of the highest standard and that the dishes are delivered to the customers quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Executing consistently high standards of food preparation
• Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen section during busy service
• Supporting the broader kitchen team and senior chefs
• Understanding and respecting dietary needs across the menu
• Staying calm, fast, and focused under pressure

Qualifications:

• Relevant Qualification in Commercial Cookery;
• 1-2 years of experience as a Commis Chef in a high end restaurant/s;
• Willing and able to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings when required;
• A strong work ethic, a passion to create good food and a desire to succeed.
