ASCT NORTH QLD PTY LTD As Geotechnical Laboratory Technician at ASCT NORTH QLD PTY LTD, you will undertake field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, aggregates and pavement materials to assess their engineering properties, performance and compliance with relevant standards and project specifications. The role involves collecting and preparing samples, operating geotechnical testing equipment, taking measurements, performing calculations, analysing test data and maintaining accurate technical records while supporting engineers, engineering technologists and project teams.
Key Responsibilities Conduct field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, aggregates and pavement materials in accordance with Australian Standards, Roads and Maritime Services specifications, NATA-accredited procedures and project specifications. Interpret testing instructions and project requirements, select suitable procedures, and set up appropriate geotechnical testing instruments and equipment. Collect, classify, prepare and test soil, rock and construction-material samples, including supporting drilling and sampling activities.
Perform Nuclear Density Gauge, compaction, field-density, moisture, CBR, MDD, UCS, HBB, Benkelman Beam, lime spread-rate and concrete strength testing. Take measurements, carry out calculations, analyse test data and evaluate construction materials against specified quality and compliance requirements. Assist in estimating material requirements and costs where required and verify that tested materials and completed works comply with relevant specifications, regulations and contract requirements.
Prepare accurate field notes, testing records, calculations and laboratory documentation, and report unusual or non-conforming results. Support site inspections, geotechnical investigations and testing work programs, ensuring testing activities are completed accurately and in accordance with project and quality requirements. About Company ASCT NORTH QLD PTY LTD forms part of Australian Soil & Concrete Testing (ASCT), an established construction materials testing organisation with more than 30 years of industry experience and a network of NATA-accredited laboratories.
ASCT provides geotechnical and construction materials testing services to civil contractors, engineers, builders, developers and government organisations. OurTownsville Laboratory in Garbutt services the North QLD Region, supporting roadworks, subdivisions, earthworks, commercial developments and major civil infrastructure projects.
