About the role
Positions: Sessional Teaching Positions (Hobart Campus)
Institution: Australian National Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC)
Location: Hobart campus
IMC is seeking to make several sessional teaching appointments in the following fields:
Data Analytics
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Information Systems and Databases
Cybersecurity
Auditing, Forensic Auditing and Audit Data Analytics
IT Project Management and Research Methods
Marketing
Successful applicants will need:
Professional or industry experience in one or more of the above areas.
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, preferably a completed or nearly completed doctorate.
Ability to teach in a classroom of diverse students using multimedia technology with an engaging presentation style.
High standards of verbal and written English communication with strong interpersonal skills.
Australian working rights.
Teaching will be at both the bachelor’s level (AQF Level 7) and the master’s coursework level (AQF Level 9). Teaching will be focused on data analytics and related technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop teaching and learning materials already designed to a basic study guide level.
Deliver lectures, seminars, or workshops using the Zoom video streaming platform and/or in on-campus classrooms at IMC, Hobart campus, Hobart City, TAS 7000.
Maintain a subject site on the Moodle learning management system that includes required weekly tasks, learning materials, major assessment tasks and discussion forums.
Assess the competency of each student relative to the expected learning outcomes of the unit and determine a final grade and mark after the teaching term.
Applicants to provide:
A curriculum vitae showing qualifications, academic and professional achievements, and employment history.
A written statement (maximum one page) explaining motivations and capacity to carry out the specified role. Please include the discipline you wish to teach in this written statement.
Applicants will be required to nominate two referees after a successful interview.
Appointment level
The appointment level is Academic Level B (Lecturer). An initial appointment will be from 09 November 2026 to 02 March 2027. Appointments will be offered on a sessional and as-needed basis, subject to teaching requirements and student enrolments.
Remuneration
IMC’s remuneration rates are based on the Higher Education Industry-Academic Staff-Award 2020, with remuneration generally offered over the award rate for each academic level.
