Community Inclusion Lead

About the role

The Community Inclusion Lead will coordinate the Community and Game Development inclusion and diversity portfolio, both internally and across the wider community. West Coast Eagles has a proud history of promoting access to the Club for everyone, including people with disabilities, immigrants and supporters from non-traditional football backgrounds. This is a hands-on role delivering Club content and events across metropolitan and regional Western Australia, and it plays an important part in the Club’s growth and innovation agenda, including the goal of 200,000 members by 2030.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Community & Game Development, responsibilities include:

• Lead the Club’s diversity and inclusion activity, supporting the drafting of the Club Diversity Plan, participating in the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and coordinating community deliverables for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
• Manage relationships with key inclusion partners and representative groups, including Perth Hornets, Pride WA, WAAFA, ISWA and WADSA, and take responsibility for the WCE Wheelchair Football Team.
• Coordinate the Department’s Eagles Active online learning program and participate in the whole-of-Club Eagles Active committee, creating opportunities for ECU and SEDA students to take part in inclusion initiatives.
• Provide central coordination of large-scale community events such as the Dowerin Field Day, Diwali Festival, Perth Royal Show, Australian Sikh Games, Colour Run and Country Week, and be present on the ground to lead engagement efforts.
• Work directly with the Executive General Manager to develop and coordinate the Club’s Stakeholder Engagement Plan, support the Executive Office to align the Hospitality Plan and coordinate WCE staff representation at priority events.
• Support the Club’s international strategy, managing relationships with aligned overseas clubs, contributing to the development of a Club India strategy and identifying membership growth opportunities linked to WA migration trends.
• Represent the Club at events and initiatives, deliver tours of Mineral Resources Park, present to community groups and explore government funding opportunities for programs in conjunction with Partnerships.

Due to the nature of the industry and this role, there is an inherent requirement to work home match days, community events and activations, which will include working some evenings and weekends. This is balanced with a flexible working schedule to support employee wellbeing.

The role will suit someone with a highly collaborative style, strong cultural awareness and a genuine passion for connecting people to their club. You will be well planned, detail-focused and comfortable achieving outcomes without direct organisational authority.

Additionally, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, inclusion and diversity, events or stakeholder relations, with an understanding of multicultural communities.
• Experience and understanding of football, along with an appreciation of the Western Australian and Australian sporting context and networks within the AFL or WAFL.
• Confidence working with people with disabilities and their families, and with representative groups from a broad range of backgrounds.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to present to groups, with very strong attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, competence with Microsoft Office programs, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A current and valid Working with Children Check, and flexibility in working hours to participate in community and game day events.
