Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer

Infrastructure Solutions is a specialist engineering consultancy based in Shepparton, providing electrical, civil and municipal engineering services to clients across regional Victoria and beyond.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in electrical infrastructure design who is looking to take on greater responsibility, work directly with clients and authorities, and develop their career within a supportive and flexible engineering environment.

The role will have a strong focus on electrical distribution network design, Powercor Option 2 design work and PM2 construction auditing, although experience with other electricity distributors in Victoria and NSW will also be highly regarded.

About the role

Working as part of our electrical engineering team, you will be involved in the design and delivery of a diverse range of electrical infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Electrical distribution network design and documentation, including Powercor Option 2 projects.

• PM2 construction auditing and inspection of electrical infrastructure.

• Detailed electrical design, including public and road lighting.

• Preparation and review of electrical engineering documentation and drawings.

• Application of VESI and electricity distributor design standards.

• Project management and coordination of electrical design projects from concept through to completion.

• Liaising with clients, councils, electricity distributors, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.

• Providing technical advice and developing practical engineering solutions.

• Reviewing existing electrical infrastructure and developing solutions to address defects or design constraints.

• Coordination and management of consultants and contractors where required.

• NBN design and coordination associated with development projects.

• Contributing to quality assurance, design reviews and continuous improvement.

• Supporting less experienced engineers and contributing to a collaborative project environment.

For the Senior Electrical Engineer (SEE)  position, you will also have the opportunity to take a lead role in project delivery, technical review, client relationships and mentoring of other team members.

About you

We are seeking an engineer who combines sound technical knowledge with a practical approach to design and project delivery.

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.

• Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering and infrastructure design.

• Experience with electrical design documentation and relevant design software, including AutoCAD.

• Good understanding of electrical distribution infrastructure and applicable industry standards.

• Strong organisational and project management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet agreed time, cost and quality requirements.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.

• Current Australian driver's licence.

Highly regarded

• Powercor Option 2 design experience and/or accreditation.

• Powercor PM2 accreditation or experience undertaking construction auditing.

• Experience working with Powercor, AusNet, Jemena, CitiPower/Powercor, Essential Energy or other Australian electricity distribution networks.

• Experience with VESI design standards and electricity distributor requirements.

• Victorian Registered Professional Engineer (RPE) registration.

• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and/or NER registration.

• Experience in public lighting design. ( not essential if not a SEE)

• NBN design experience. ( not essential if not a SEE)

• Experience in project management and client liaison. (not essential if not a SEE)

• Experience mentoring or supervising other engineers.

RPE registration is preferred but not essential. Candidates who are not currently registered but have the qualifications and experience required to obtain registration within 2 years or are an experienced Associate Electrical Engineer are encouraged to apply.
