General Labourer

Position Title: General Labourer

Location: Lindeman Island, Whitsunday Islands, Queensland, Australia

Reporting To: Chief Engineer

Probation Period: 6 Months

Salary: $65K + Superannuation

Overview:

This is an opportunity for a General Labourer to live and work on the beautiful Lindeman Island in the Whitsundays. The successful candidate will assist with various duties across the island, supporting the construction team and other operations. The role requires a flexible and hardworking individual with general worksite and construction experience, and the ability to assist tradespeople, maintain equipment, and perform other tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

General Labouring Duties:

• Perform a variety of manual labour tasks as directed, including but not limited to:

• Digging, lifting, and carrying materials

• Site cleanup, clearing vegetation and maintenance

• Assisting with basic construction tasks

• Moving and organising equipment and supplies

Assistance to Tradespeople:

• Assist tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, plumbers, electricians) with their tasks, providing support as needed.

• Help with the preparation of work areas and materials.

• Follow instructions from tradespeople to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Plant and Equipment Assistance:

• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of plant and equipment.

• Perform basic checks on equipment (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure) as directed.

• Operate small plant and equipment (if experienced and trained) under supervision.

General Site Support:

• Assist with general site maintenance, including keeping work areas clean and organized.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

• Be flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities.

• Work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

• General experience working on worksites and/or in construction environments.

• Ability to perform physically demanding work.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

• Strong commitment to safety.

• Valid driver's license (MR or higher licence)

• Construction white card.

• Chainsaw licence

Desirable:

• Trade qualification in any field.

• Machinery qualifications

• Working knowledge of plant and equipment.

• First aid and CPR certification.

• Experience working in a remote location.

• Experience in operating plant and equipment (with valid ticket)
