Our expertise includes switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), transportable substations, switchrooms, power distribution systems, protection and control panels, and engineered electrical solutions for the utilities, mining, renewable energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Switchboard Electrician with a strong background in electrical testing, fault finding and commissioning to join our team.
About the RoleThis position is primarily focused on the testing, inspection, fault finding and commissioning of LV, MV and HV switchboards and transportable switchrooms before delivery and during site installation where required.
Working between our Wakerley and Logan (Meadowbrook) facilities, you will work closely with our engineering, production, quality and project teams to ensure every product meets Australian Standards, customer specifications and the highest quality expectations.
The role also includes switchboard assembly, modifications and occasional site installation and commissioning work throughout Queensland and interstate when required.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform functional, mechanical and electrical testing of LV, MV and HV switchboards and transportable switchrooms.
Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, phase rotation, earth continuity and operational testing.
Perform protection relay verification, control circuit testing and commissioning activities.
Diagnose and rectify electrical, wiring and functional faults.
Complete quality inspections in accordance with AS/NZS 61439 and project specifications.
Assemble and modify switchboards, MCCs, control panels and electrical equipment as required.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams and General Arrangement drawings.
Prepare test reports, commissioning documentation and quality records.
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers and consultants.
Mentor apprentices, trades assistants and junior electricians.
Undertake occasional site installation, testing and commissioning work, including shutdowns and after-hours projects where required.
Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence (Electrical Mechanic / Fitter).
Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Electrical Fitting.
Minimum three years' experience in industrial switchboard manufacturing, testing or commissioning.
Strong experience testing LV switchboards, motor control centres and industrial control systems.
Exposure to MV and HV switchgear, substations or protection systems will be highly regarded.
Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards.
Current CPR/LVR certification.
White Card.
Current Australian Driver Licence.
Ability to work across both workshop locations.
Willingness to travel for site commissioning work when required.
Work on complex LV, MV and HV electrical infrastructure projects.
