Assistant Restaurant Manager/ Somm

About the role

Working alongside the Restaurant Manager, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences, leading and developing a high-performing team, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across one of Sydney's premier dining destinations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant

• Lead, mentor and motivate the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional service

• Ensure service standards are consistently maintained across all shifts

• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management

• Manage guest feedback and resolve concerns professionally and efficiently

• Assist with rostering, labour management and payroll accuracy

• Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure seamless service

• Assist in achieving financial targets through effective labour, wage and cost control

• Maintain compliance with food safety, RSA and workplace health and safety requirement

• Foster a positive team culture focused on professionalism, accountability and genuine hospitality

About you

• Full Australian working rights

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a management or supervisory role within premium hospitality

• Strong leadership and team development skills

• Current NSW RSA Certificate

• Fluent English with excellent communication skills

• Ability to remain calm and decisive in a fast-paced environment

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• Experience with POS systems and restaurant reservations

• Sound understanding of hospitality compliance and workplace health and safety
