Daydream Island Resort & Living Reef is located in the heart of Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands and the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef.  With stunning views out to the impossibly blue waters of the Whitsundays, it is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the island. 

The island is one of the closest Whitsunday islands to the mainland (Airlie Beach) with spectacular 30-minute ferry ride. 

As a Painter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the visual appeal and ambiance of our hotel. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the interior and exterior of hotel are kept in pristine condition through expert painting and finishing techniques.

This role is a live off island.

About the role

• Apply paint and other finishes to walls, ceilings, trim, and other surfaces.
• Prepare and clean surfaces for painting, including scraping, sanding, and patching as needed
• Select premixed paints or mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colours. 
• Inspect surfaces for imperfections and make necessary repairs before painting.
• Maintain painting equipment and tools in good working order.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Coordinate with other hotel staff to schedule painting projects with minimal disruption to guests.
• Keep an inventory of paint supplies and reorder as necessary.

About you.

• Proven experience as a professional painter, preferably in a hotel or commercial setting.
• Proficiency in a variety of painting techniques and finishes.
• Knowledge of different types of paints, varnishes, and solvents.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Holds a current white card
• Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
